Provides independent scientific advice on food-related risks, which informs European laws, rules, and policymaking. EFSA also provides scientific advice to support the authorization process of food additives.

European Commission
Responsible for official controls and enforcement related to food safety and quality. The European Commission and EU Member States decide on the approval of food additives on the EU market.
